Stiftungen

RESPONSIBILITY IN THE MOST
DIVERSE AREAS OF SOCIAL ACTION.

The main purposes of the foundations are based on the regulations relating to tax relief in section 52 of the German Tax Code. These are the promotion of science and research, youth and elderly welfare, schooling and education, public health, art, nature conservation, sport and civic engagement for the benefit of charitable, benevolent and ecclesiastical purposes.

The Jürgen Wirtgen Stiftung and the Stefan Wirtgen Stiftung pursue exclusively charitable purposes with their own statute, assets and Governing Board. Compared to the more than 600,000 registered associations or the even more common limited liability companies, there are approximately 24,000 foundations across Germany as of 2020, 52 of which have their headquarters in the Neuwied district.

Since their establishment, both foundations belong to the Association of German Foundations.

The grouping of all social activities in the new family office emphasizes the Wirtgen family’s long-standing commitment to social involvement beyond its business activities.
