TRAIN THE TRAINER – FOOTBALL FOR THE WHOLE REGION.

Youth sports and the training of young people in the local region are particularly important to the Wirtgen Stiftungen. In this field, it is essential that well-trained trainers, coaches and teachers take over the pedagogical training of children and young people in the local clubs on a regular and long-term basis.

The five football clubs in the Asbach municipality, together with the Wirtgen Stiftungen, offered their coaches and young players a special highlight on a total of eight appointments in 2022 with the “Train the trainer” project. Highly qualified and licensed coaches, all of them former professional footballers who have played in the German national football league and in some cases for the national teams, lead the sessions and teach the coaches and those who want to become coaches in the future, various training methods and useful tips on how to deal with young players.

In total the Wirtgen Stiftungen welcomed a total of 682 children and young people aged between 5 and 18, as well as 122 coaches to the four events, which were always held in bright sunshine. The team of coaches led by Jürgen Holletzek, Thomas von Heesen, Arie van Lent, Fatmir Vata and Dirk Roski used the same basic structure with different age-appropriate and performance-demanding contents for the units.

First successes are reported from the clubs. Some coaches would like to deepen their knowledge through licence courses and the young players are also eager to learn more and are looking forward to the next units.

A continuation of the project is in the planning stage and will be communicated and advertised in good time. Spectators are also welcome to attend this series of events.
