News: Solarpark Ferreira do Alentejo

FERREIRA DO ALENTEJO – THIRD AND SO FAR LARGEST SOLAR PLANT SUCCESSFULLY BROUGHT ONLINE IN PORTUAL.

With Ferreira do Alentejo solar plant, the third of WIRTGEN INVEST's six Portuguese solar parks was successfully connected to the power grid in October 2020.

Built in the south of the country, roughly 120 km south-east of Lisbon, the solar farm has a nominal output of 46.4 MWp produced by approximately 26,000 Suntech PV modules.

Together with the already connected solar plants in Amareleja and Cartaxo, Wirtgen Invest now provides almost 15,1 million kWh annually, which is enough to supply around 30,000 four-person households and save some 55,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The connection of the Ferreira do Alentejo solar plant to the grid marks the continuance of a series of six new solar plants in Portugal, of which Ferreira represents the first being directly connected on high-voltage level by an attached new-build substation. It is expected that, in the coming months, the next high-voltage projects in Santarém, Moura and Lagos will also be brought online.
