News: Solar park Santarém
SANTARÉM– FOURTH PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT SUCCESSFULLY BROUGHT ONLINE IN PORTUGAL BY WIRTGEN INVEST.
With the Santarém solar plant, the fourth of WIRTGEN INVEST's six Portuguese solar plants was successfully connected to the power grid in late April 2021.
Based in the fringes of the Tajo-valley north of Lisbon, the solar farm has a nominal output of 22.9 MWp produced by approximately 61,000 Suntech PV modules.
Together with the already connected solar plant Cartaxo in that area as well as the two other solar plants Amareleja and Ferreira do Alentejo located south-east of Lisbon, WIRTGEN INVEST now provides almost 35,5 million kWh of green energy annually, which is enough to supply almost 40,000 four-person households and save some 71,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The connection of the Santarém solar plant to the grid marks the continuance of a series of six new photovoltaic plants in Portugal, of which Santarém represents the second being directly connected on high-voltage level by an attached new-build substation. It is expected in the coming months that the next high-voltage projects in Moura and Lagos will also be brought online.
