SOLAR PLANT IN BARCS – NEW ACQUISITION IN HUNGARY.

With the acquisition of the LEHEL Solar photovoltaic park, which is currently under construction, WIRTGEN INVEST Energy has now entered the Hungarian power market.

In the outskirts of the town of Barcs, directly on the south-western border of the country with Croatia and thus a good 80 km south of the picturesque Lake Balaton, a solar park consisting of three individual sites with a nominal output of 22.9 MWp and more than 42,500 installed bifacial Longi-modules is currently being built. The park is scheduled for completion in late autumn 2023 and commissioned in February 2024.

In the future, the solar park will produce around 36 million kWh of green electricity annually, which will supply around 10,000 households and save over 20,000 tons of CO2 a year. The electricity is marketed either on a merchant basis via the Hungarian electricity exchange HUPX or bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs).

With the acquisition of the LEHEL Solar photovoltaic park, WIRTGEN INVEST's commitment in the field of renewable energies has now increased to 613 MW worldwide.
