GREEN POWER FROM HUNGARY

With the commissioning and start of operations in May 2024 of the LEHEL Solar photovoltaic park, WIRTGEN INVEST Energy has now also entered the Hungarian power market.

In the outskirts of the town of Barcs, directly on the south-western border of the country with Croatia and thus a good 80 km south of the picturesque Lake Balaton, a solar park consisting of three individual sites with a nominal output of 22.9 MWp and almost 42,500 installed bifacial Longi-modules was built. The plant injects its energy into the public grid via an existing local substation which had been upgraded for this purpose.

The solar park will produce around 36 million kWh of green electricity annually, which will supply around 10,000 households and save over 20,000 tons of CO2 a year. The electricity is currently marketed on a merchant basis via the Hungarian electricity exchange HUPX.
