“Our investment in Poland has a clear objective. To promote and generate renewable energy profitably.” The Barwice Wind Park is situated in a windy region of Northern Poland. 14 Siemens wind turbines with a combined rated capacity of 42 megawatts are currently under construction. They will generate around 112 million kWh per year from spring 2020. The energy produced each year is enough to supply around 27,000 four-occupant households with electricity. According to the OECD methodology, it will also save approximately 48,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. As such, this method of generating power is demonstrably environmentally friendly. The Barwice Wind Park will be the first wind park of its size subject to public tender to go online in Poland. Thanks to the subsidy scheme for renewable energy, repayment is predictable with tariffs fixed for 15 years.
