With the acquisition of the Margariti photovoltaic park, which is currently under construction, WIRTGEN INVEST Energy has now entered the Greek power market.
A solar park consisting of 5 plants with a nominal output of 50.0 MWp and around 93,000 installed Suntech PV modules is currently being built near the north-west coast of the country, near the island of Corfu. The commissioning of the park, which covers an undeveloped valley and an adjacent hill, is scheduled for summer 2023 and will inject its energy via a new substation.
In the future, the solar park will produce around 76 million kWh of green electricity annually, which will supply around 21,500 households and save over 32,000 tons of CO2 a year. Electricity sales are secured by a state-guaranteed feed-in tariff over 20 years, which was awarded to the project in a tender in July 2020.
With the acquisition of the Margariti photovoltaic park, WIRTGEN INVEST’s commitment has now increased to 460 MW worldwide.
