Since July 2019, WIRTGEN INVEST has established a presence in Australia, too. WIRTGEN INVEST has acquired the rights to a photovoltaic project with a total nominal output of approximately 149 MWp that is ready for construction near Glenrowan (Victoria) in the southeast of the country, around 250 km north of Melbourne.
Construction is in full swing; assembly of the plant and installation of the modules is planned to be complete by the end of 2020. The site, which is roughly the size of 480 football fields, will be home to around 375,000 solar modules that will generate approximately 278,000 MWh of sustainable energy each year. This is enough energy to supply around 70,000 four-person households with electricity and will result in annual savings of approximately 117,000 tonnes of CO2.
“At our wind and photovoltaic sites throughout Europe, we have had positive experiences with our general concept for acquiring, constructing and operating plants. For the first time outside of Europe, we will apply this same strategy at the photovoltaic park in Glenrowan.”
